The Banksia is an iconic Australian native plant named after pioneering first fleet botanist Sir Joseph Banks, which can be instantly identified by it’s unique cylindrical shaped blooms. Flowers come to bloom throughout Autumn and Winter displaying rustic yellows to dusty orange and reds contrasted strikingly against long needle like foliage. This indigenous shrub is a vigorous and hardy and once established in well drained sandy soil is able to withstand moderate frost, drought and sea-spray conditions. Banksia serves as a fantastic focal point to any garden and performs well in the Victorian climate year round.
